Dr. Mohd Asyadi Azam is a professor in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. He is currently servicing Fakulti Kejuruteraan Pembuatan, UTeM Melaka, as well as Adjunct Professor at Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan for a 2-years appointment until March 2024. Other than several years of experience in the MNC manufacturing industry, he has held various university\u2019s administrative positions since 2014 until now.<\/p>\n
Prof Asyadi is mechanical-material based Chartered Engineer also a registered Professional Engineer for the BEM. Since 2014, Prof Asyadi is one of the evaluation panels at national level for many research grants including FRGS, PRGS, HICOE and KKP grants. After graduating bachelor degree from Shibaura IT in 2003, he then completed his Master of Engineering in 2005 at the same university where he consecutively won awards including twice for Hisamoto Yanai Memorial Award for his excellence in academics.<\/p>\n
During his PhD at JAIST Japan, he was awarded the JSPS scholarship for his remarkable research on vertically aligned CNT growth for supercapacitor at which upon the completion, he was awarded the Best Student Award due to the academic and research excellence. Other than receiving cumulated research grants of more than MYR 4million, Prof Asyadi has received many accolades for his outstanding innovative research including Gold and Special Awards at many local and international competitions.<\/p>\n
Prof Asyadi has published over 150 indexed journal articles, more than 15 book chapters and 2 research books specifically on the carbon nanomaterials, energy storage devices including supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries, and on the corrosion science and engineering. [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.1″ _module_preset=”default” text_font_size=”16px” text_orientation=”justified” animation_style=”fade” global_colors_info=”{}”]Two-Dimensional (2D) material including Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) is a promising material due to its structures providing absorption sites and shorter diffusion path. However, its sheet restacking affects its functional properties which therefore resulting low efficiency in the device. A strategy is proposed to combine MoS2 with MXene material. X-ray Diffraction confirmed the crystallinity of the successfully synthesized MXene and MoS2 composite. Electron Microscopes were used for the confirmation of the samples\u2019 surface area for the contribution to the charge storage performance. Later, the electrochemical performances of the MXene\/MoS2 supercapacitor in 6M KOH aqueous electrolyte were analyzed by means of Cyclic Voltammetry and Galvanostatic Charge-Discharge. The highest specific capacitance achieved was 119.26 Fg-1, attributed to heterostructures of an equally distributed MoS2 and MXene. Furthermore, this device achieved almost 90% of its original capacitance from a 1,000 cycles cyclic stability test at high current. The results indicated that MXene material has been a supporting factor in assisting capacitive performance of MoS2, and vice versa.
